Financial literacy is the knowledge and application of financial skills such as budgeting, using credit, and investing. Becoming understanding of your finances can feel daunting, but I promise you that it is manageable. There are many different free resources you can use to become more financially literate and in control of your personal finances. The following are three of my favorite resources that should assist you with improving your financial literacy:

1. Investopedia

2. Yahoo Finance

3. Experian

1. Investopedia

Investopedia.com is a financial media website that provides an investment dictionary, investment articles, investment recommendations, and reviews of financial products. From learning more about what an exchange-traded fund is to reading reviews of travel credit cards, Investopedia will assist you with becoming more financially literate.

2. Yahoo Finance

Finance.yahoo.com is a financial media website that provides financial news, data, and commentary, allowing you to easily keep up with the stock market and the economy. One of my favorite aspects of the website is being able to search the symbol of a publicly-traded company and gain access to key data related to that company, such as its price, chart, statistics, financials, and holders.

3. Experian

Experian.com is a consumer credit reporting website that provides free access to your FICO Score and articles on how to improve and protect your FICO Score. FICO Score is the primary credit score used by lenders in the United States to determine your credit worthiness. In becoming more familiar with your FICO Score and how to improve it, you will be able to position yourself to qualify for lower interest rate loan products when it comes to that home or car you want.

Investopedia, Yahoo Finance, and Experian have assisted me with becoming more financially literate ever since I became interested in the world of personal finance. What are some of your resources for financial literacy? Let me know in the comments.
