An Environmental Services ETF to Know About
An ETF that is driven by rapid population increases and industrialization
The environmental services industry covers a broad range of activities focused on protecting and improving the environment in which we live. These activities include sewage services, sanitation services, soil mediation & clean-up, air pollution control, and noise abatement. In the United States, the environmental services industry is an approximately $400 billion industry. When it comes to gaining investment exposure to the industry, there is an ETF for that. That ETF is known as the VanEck Environmental Services ETF (EVX).
EVX is an ETF designed to measure the performance of widely held, highly capitalized companies engaged in business activities that may benefit from the global increase in demand for consumer waste disposal, removal, and storage of industrial by-products, and the management of associated resources. The top holdings of EVX include companies such as Waste Management, Waste Connections, Energy Recovery, Clean Harbors, and Evoqua Water Technologies.
Since its inception on October 10th, 2006, EVX has provided an average annual return of approximately 8.3% and a total return of approximately 253.9%, with dividends reinvested. As of October 17th, EVX has a price per share of $132.72, net assets of $67.91 million, and an expense ratio of 0.55%.
I believe it is important to know the leading companies involved in ensuring a habitable environment. EVX is worth keeping on your watchlist as there will always be a need for environmental services as Earth’s population continues to increase and more communities become more industrialized. Let me know what you think of EVX in the comments.
